Programs for Toddlers and Preschool Children V.I.P. TOTS has two programs for children with autism. One for toddlers and one for preschool children. The focus is on developing communication, social, physical, and self-help skills. Children work on pre-reading and pre-math activities as well. Parents are encouraged to work closely with the staff members. A parent support group meets monthly. Inland Regional Center or local school districts pay for toddler or preschool autism services when children are eligible.
Tots with Tutors and IN Program for preschool
The toddler program is called Tots with Tutors. The Tots with Tutors program involves one-on-one instruction at the center and/or at home. Speech and occupational therapy are provided as part of the program. Tots with Tutors is for children ages 18 months to 36 months. Parent training is part of the program.
Preschool children with intensive needs diagnosed with autism attend the “IN Program” and receive individual and small group instruction. The groups may include children who are enrolled in childcare programs. Some children with intensive needs are assigned to one-on-one tutors full time. Local school districts may enroll children when there is no district program to meet the needs of the child. Classes meet for three and half hours four days per week.
